Shari Burgus-Education Director

Shari is the Education Director at Farm Safety 4 Just Kids. Starting with the organization in 1991, she initiated the first chapter system. She now develops educational material and programs that include brochures, fact sheets, demonstrations, displays, curriculum, activity ideas, lesson plans, and more. Shari has past teaching experience in both middle and high schools in rural and urban settings. She grew up on a typical Iowa row crop and livestock farm outside of Adel, Iowa.

Ms. Burgus has a Masters of Education degree from Iowa State University and a Specialist degree in Adult Education from Drake University. She serves on numerous state and national agricultural safety and health initiatives including: Children’s Agricultural Safety Network, Purdue’s Tractor Certification Project, North Carolina Agromedicine Institute Advisory Committee, University of Kentucky Economics of Prevention Advisory Committee, Iowa Farm Safety Council Treasurer, Iowa’s Center for Agricultural Safety and Health (I-CASH) Advisory Committee Chair, and National Institute for Farm Safety (NIFS) Professional Improvement Committee.
